long time no post fareal. just back in this to post up some beautiful artwork passed on to me by one of my good friends, Simon Sedillo.

A lot of time when people ask me, "Who are some of your favorite emcees that are women?" I chuckle a little bit, cus thats like asking me what's my favorite thing to eat. After the initial response, I usually make a laundry list of women I think are amazing rappers. But, I always mention that I think some of the best rappers period, and in particular women rappers, rap in spanish. There is a serious contribution being made to hip hop ALL over Turtle Island, From Ana Tijoux de Chile to alika y la nueva alianza de Argentina to this muxer Mare de Oaxaca.

Ever since I heard Mare's music in the Xip Xop Oaxaca documentary screening a couple of years ago, I always been on the look out for more of her work. I am seriously humbled by the down to earth-ness of her character, how she reps her community, the struggle, and the beauty of being indigenous.
